Acoustical rock offered on two dates at Kyber.

New York singer-songwriter Block - who's earned comparisons to everyone from Beck to Jeff Buckley - will give two "residency" performances at the Kyber, 56 S. Second St., Philadelphia, on Thursday, Oct. 8. Tickets are $8 for the 10 p.m., shows.

The critical buzz on this guy (real name Jamie Block) is very positive, with FMQB Magazine calling his work "upbeat, acoustically-driven American rock."

His debut album on Capitol albums is being released later this week.
