"Timing Is Everything" introduces a New York-based caustic clown named Block (formerly Jamie Block) on the Java/Capitol imprint backed by producer Glen Ballard. In fact, his amusing "alterna-folk" first caught a few folks' attention on the droll 1996 Burning Bush label Release "Lead Me Not into Penn Station."
Bblock's sound is pumped, yet tuneful, witty and occasionally sardonic, and trendied up will for mass consumption by Ballard (also Alanis Morissette's collaborator). Tracks to dig: the Dylan- goes-techno "The Pink House Must Burn," "Cigarettes, Prozac and Scotch," "I Used to Manage PM Dawn" and especialy the absurd "3rd Mall from the Sun."
