The East Village native made critical ripples last year with an indie debut that deserved notice for its title alone: "'Lead Me Not Into Penn Station." Block boasts a voice as dryly cool as young Lou Reed's, and he delivers the lyrics with an emotional grounding that insures his music never descends into novelty.
