7. Block Timing Is Everything (Java/Capitol) I already have visions of "3rd Mall From The Sun" being this huge alterna smash. It has all the markings: novel without being overtly kitschy and a great groove a la Beck. One Jamie Block is the clever and often brilliant mind behind these musical pieces. A cool modern pop manifesto of sorts. Song titles like "Cigarettes, Prozac & Scotch," "I-95" and "I Used To Manage PM Dawn" give ya an idea of where his head’s at. He knows how to blend a singer-songwriter mentality (he looks & sounds like he’s got to be over 30) with a state-of-the-art approach.
